The Social Watch Report 2006 was launched September 19th. in Singapore, at the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. The report pointed out that net transfers to developing countries from the Bank and the International Bank for Reconstruction (IBRD), have been negative every year since 1991.

This year's report, titled "Impossible Architecture: Why the Financial Structure is Not Working for the Poor and How to Redesign it for Equity and Development", refers to the urgent need to reform the current international financial structure to fulfil national and international commitments to eradicate poverty and promote gender equity.

In addition to National Reports contributed by the member organizations of Social Watch, the 2006 Report includes 13 Thematic Articles by experts on international finances, as well as a global study based on indicators developed by Social Watch itself: the Basic Capabilities Index and the Gender Equity Index.
